Tentative Agreement Reached for SPD Markets in Grass Valley and Nevada City

** UPDATE – March 25, 2024 – Members at SPD Markets have overwhelmingly ratified their new contract. **

ROSEVILLE, CALIF. (March 6, 2024) — UFCW 8-Golden State has reached a tentative contract agreement covering members working at SPD Markets in Grass Valley and Nevada City. The new agreement will be submitted to members for review and voting in the coming days.

The tentative agreement includes:

  • Meaningful wage increases, matching the major food industry increases.
  • Improved progression step hours for MPC’s and Meat Cutters.
  • Elimination of all progression steps for Courtesy Clerks.
  • Medical benefit improvements, including Dental, Vision, Hearing, Chiropractic improvements, as well as a new burial benefit and new coverage for CBD oil.
  • A New Lifetime Income Security Accrual Account (LISA) retirement plan for current and future members – in addition to existing pension benefits.
  • No takeaways – NONE!
