We met with Foods Co. / Food4Less for our second round of bargaining last week. We were also joined by a Federal Mediator, who will serve as a neutral party, helping to ensure bargaining is productive and fair.
At our last meeting, we asked the company to be ready to move bargaining forward. We’ve been clear with the company, we want to reach a fair agreement by the time our contract expires in June. We expect the company to come prepared to negotiate on the issues that affect our member’s lives.
While we have reached agreements on some minor issues, the company refuses to acknowledge the needs of our members and has yet to share their proposals on some of the most important issues, like wages.
Additional meetings are scheduled in May. We have asked the company to meet over a dozen more times before our contract expires. They have agreed to six meetings.
The company needs to hear from all of us if they’re going to get serious about negotiating a fair contract. Your District Union Representatives are circulating a petition in stores, which thousands have already signed. If you haven’t had the chance, now is the time to make sure your voice is heard.
Your work makes the company successful and our members deserve to have a contract which delivers equity with other Union grocery stores, higher wages, and better staffing, and we’re ready to bargain as often and as long as it takes to reach an agreement.

Nos reunimos con Foods Co. / Food4Less para celebrar la segunda ronda de negociaciones. También nos acompañó un mediador federal, que actuará como parte neutral, ayudando a garantizar que la negociación sea productiva y justa.
En nuestra última reunión, pedimos a la empresa que estuviera preparada para avanzar en la negociación. Hemos sido claros con la empresa: queremos llegar a un acuerdo justo antes de que expire nuestro contrato en junio. Esperamos que la empresa venga dispuesta a negociar las cuestiones que afectan a la vida de nuestros afiliados.
Aunque hemos llegado a acuerdos sobre algunas cuestiones menores, la empresa se niega a reconocer las necesidades de nuestros miembros y aún tiene que compartir sus propuestas sobre algunas de las cuestiones más importantes, como los salarios.
En mayo están previstas más reuniones. Hemos pedido a la empresa que se reúna más de una docena de veces antes de que expire nuestro contrato. Han aceptado seis reuniones.
La empresa necesita oírnos a todos si quiere negociar en serio un convenio justo. Los representantes sindicales de tu distrito están distribuyendo una petición en las tiendas, que ya han firmado miles de personas. Si aún no has tenido la oportunidad, ahora es el momento de hacer oír tu voz.
Su trabajo hace que la empresa tenga éxito y nuestros miembros merecen tener un contrato que ofrezca igualdad con otras tiendas de comestibles de la Unión, salarios más altos y mejor dotación de personal, y estamos dispuestos a negociar con la frecuencia y el tiempo que sea necesario para llegar a un acuerdo.
