Agreement includes significant wage increases, improved healthcare with no employee premiums, retirement benefits and COVID-19 Response Compensation

ROSEVILLE, CA (March 25, 2020) — UFCW 8-Golden State President Jacques Loveall announced today, following months of complex negotiations, an excellent new tentative agreement with Raley’s, Bel Air and Nob Hill in Northern and Central California.

“At the bargaining table we were able to build on the key achievements of decades of Union Solidarity,” President Loveall said. “This contract is one of our best ever, a big ‘win’ for Union members. We’re proud of the joint labor and management efforts allowing us to reach a settlement at this critical time,” he said.

“The three-year agreement includes improved funding of pension benefits, enhanced health care benefits with no employee premiums, and significant wage increases,” Loveall said.

In addition, Loveall said an agreement was reached to provide workers of the three companies meaningful compensation for their work during the current healthcare crisis. Also, included in the new agreement is a Crisis Response addendum affirming health and safety procedures to best assure the well-being of both Raley’s workers and the public during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Further details will not be released until the 4,400 UFCW 8-Golden State members at the three companies have the opportunity to review and ratify the tentative agreement.

UFCW 8-Golden State represents some 35,000 members who work in grocery and drug stores, food-processing plants, distilleries, medical facilities and offices from the Oregon border in the north to Kern County in the south.
