UFCW Members Working at Rite Aid in California to Receive $2/Hour Wage Increase

UFCW 8-Golden State President Jacques Loveall today announced workers at Rite Aid stores in Northern and Southern California will earn an extra $2.00 per hour as for their service during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The retroactive increase will begin from March 15 forward.

In addition, Rite Aid is increasing its employee discount to 35% and relaxing its dress code.

“We are continuing to discuss other safety measures to protect workers who interact with the public with Union employers,” Loveall said.

“We appreciate Rite Aid is following the lead of other retail food and drug employers in recognizing the heroic efforts of their workers serving on the front lines. A critical issue we need to address is the company’s elimination of existing sick leave benefits and the employee benefit plan which had ensured healthcare for workers for the last 55 years.”

UFCW 8-Golden State represents approximately 35,000 members in supermarkets, drug stores, food processing plants, wineries, distilleries, cannabis facilities, medical offices and other workplaces from the Oregon border in the north to Kern County in the south.
