UFCW 8-Golden State, in solidarity with Locals 5, 648, and 770, has been bargaining with Save Mart since July. Rather than addressing our member’s issues in good faith, the employer has committed multiple Unfair Labor Practices in violation of federal labor law.
Our contracts expired on October 7. It’s time for Save Mart to understand our members will not allow the company’s bad faith bargaining to continue indefinitely. Our members are ready to fight for fair wages, affordable healthcare, and improved retirement benefits.
UFCW Locals are scheduling meetings to vote to authorize an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike, if necessary. An overwhelming yes vote sends a strong message to Save Mart members are willing to stand up for the contract they deserve. At the “drop-in” meetings, we will fully explain the process and address frequently asked questions about a ULP strike, including your legally protected right to participate, how ULP strikes can differ from a traditional strike, and what strike benefits are available.
Meeting dates and locations for the first week in December are being confirmed and will be shared with members as soon as possible.
Now is the time to stand together and demonstrate our strength. Together, we will send a clear message: SOLIDARITY WORKS!
