Save Mart, Lucky, Food Maxx, Maxx Value and SM Office Bargaining Update

October 10, 2024 — UFCW 8-Golden State, along with UFCW locals 5 and 648, continued negotiations with the company last week and through the weekend. These discussions include contracts for thousands of members in Northern and Southern Calif. working at Save Mart, Lucky, Food Maxx, Maxx Value and Save Mart Office. Our commitment to reaching a fair and just contract for our members has been met with delays and little progress by the company. The company’s proposals continue to fall short of addressing the critical issues raised by our members.

We have made it clear, we are bargaining for meaningful wage increases while maintaining and improving benefits and working conditions — these essential improvements reflect the value our members bring to the job every day. Unfortunately, the company has yet to demonstrate they are taking our member’s needs seriously.

Terms and provisions of the collective bargaining agreement remain in place as we continue negotiations.

Additional bargaining dates are planned with the company in the coming weeks. We will continue to keep members informed by text, email and District Union Rep store visits as we make progress. There will also be opportunities to stand together and demonstrate with your Union sisters and brothers to send a strong and clear message – We are ready to do whatever it takes to win the contract our members deserve! Despite these roadblocks, our members remain resolute and ready to fight for a contract which rewards their hard work. We will continue pushing forward, advocating for the contract our members have earned through their labor and sacrifice.
