Southern CA Negotiations Update – July 18, 2016

Four and one half months after contract expiration, we are disappointed to report Albertsons, Ralphs and Vons have made little movement towards reaching a contract offer which provides living wages for all employees, affordable medical benefits, retirement security and fair scheduling.

Since March, negotiations have progressed slowly and it has become clear the companies would prefer to delay a settlement.

Last week, we met for several days with very little progress by the companies on any of the most important economic issues.  Additionally, we have meetings scheduled for this week and into August.

We have told the companies we have a deadline of August 8.  We know from past negotiations, without a deadline, the companies will continue to delay.  At the appropriate time, all local unions will schedule meetings to present and vote the companies’ final offer.

In the meantime, we are doing everything possible to avoid a strike. We know this is a tense and difficult time for you and your co-workers, but it is also a time for standing strong in solidarity with your Union.

Our goal is to always negotiate a contract without the need for economic action.  No one ever wants a strike but the message management needs to hear is we are standing together!

If you have any questions please contact your District Union Representative.

Together we’ll prove, once again … Solidarity Works!
