We met with Stater Bros. again to bargain a new contract and the company explained their hiring freeze and layoffs in certain stores. The company presented a wage proposal which, unfortunately, remains inadequate and does not address the needs of meat cutters or those moving through the steps. Our members work hard and deserve a fair contract.
Stater Bros. thrives because of the commitment of our members and their exceptional service and connection with customers and the community. The company must recognize our member’s contributions and value. A federal mediator hasn’t participated in negotiations yet, but we urge Stater Bros. to consider including one in upcoming sessions. A federal mediator can serve as a neutral party to help ensure bargaining is productive and fair.
Wear your Union pins proudly—it’s a sign of our solidarity and commitment to improving the contract. When customers ask, let them know we’re fighting for fair wages and a contract which values our work. Bargaining continues this week, and we’ll share updates as progress is made.
