Save Mart, Lucky, and Food Maxx Negotiations Update: Upcoming Strike Authorization Vote Meetings – December 3, 4 and 5

Video Message from Jacques Loveall, President of UFCW 8-Golden State, UFCW International Vice President.

Strike authorization vote meetings scheduled on Tuesday, December 3rdWednesday, December 4th, and Thursday, December 5th, 2024, at twenty (20) locations will include authorization for an economic strike, if necessary, in addition to the Unfair Labor Practice strike authorization.

Voting to authorize an economic strike provides your bargaining committee with the flexibility and strength needed to secure a fair and equitable agreement. This vote will serve as a clear message to the company. We are united and willing to take collective action to ensure members receive the contract they deserve.

Additionally, both parties have agreed to include a federal mediator in the next rounds of negotiations, underscoring the critical nature of these discussions. The results of the strike authorization vote will directly impact bargaining as we continue to push for a contract which acknowledges the essential contributions of our members.

We urge all members working at Save Mart, Lucky and Food Maxx locations to attend one of these important meetings and vote YES to authorize a ULP or economic strike, should either become necessary.

A strong turnout will amplify the members’ voices and show the company we are united in our demands for dignity and respect. Together, we will prove once again Solidarity Works!
