Southern California UFCW Unions Reach Tentative Agreement With Supermarkets

Members to vote on proposed contract at meetings on Aug. 8 and 9

Bakersfield, Calif. (Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016) — Seven Southern California local Unions of the United Food and Commercial Workers today reached a tentative agreement with Albertsons/Vons and Ralphs.

Members of UFCW 8-Golden State in Kern County are among approximately 47,000 supermarket workers who will be asked to vote on the proposed contract at meetings throughout the region on Aug. 8 and 9.

Details of the tentative agreement will be shared with the members before they cast their ballots. Leaders of the seven participating Unions are all recommending approval.

The Southern California UFCW members had been working without a contract since their previous agreement with the employers expired in March.
