California Board of Pharmacy: UFCW Pharmacy Members Public Comment

UFCW Locals throughout California are urging our Pharmacists members to speak out now on remote processing before the upcoming hearing.

Please submit public comments by April 3, 2026 to make sure regulators hear directly from the professionals who understand what is at stake for patients, pharmacy staff, and our communities.

Remote processing takes important work away from the pharmacy team members who know their patients best. That means less direct oversight, fewer opportunities to catch problems in real time, and less support for safe, high-quality patient care.

This would prioritize our employers’ bottom lines over our patients’ needs.

Our members know that safe pharmacies depend on adequate staffing, strong professional judgment, and in-person oversight. We encourage every UFCW member pharmacist to submit a public comment before the April 3 deadline and help protect patient safety and pharmacy standards.

Sample UFCW Pharmacist Public Comment:

Dear California Board of Pharmacy,

Every day, California’s pharmacists ensure safe, accurate, and timely care for our patients. All the while being tasked with filling more prescriptions, taking on more responsibilities, and facing more pressure. Without the staff that is needed to provide safe, high-quality care, our patients are put at risk.

Our profession is already facing critical staffing shortages, and the solution is strengthening pharmacist staffing, not remote processing.

Remote processing prioritizes our employers’ bottom lines over our patients. Patients deserve access to pharmacists for phone calls, counseling, and clinical services.

Sincerely,
