Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Co. has been awarded a $7.8 million contract from the Defense Logistics Agency for temperate weather combat boots, according to an announcement from U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski (D-Ill.). The workers at Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Co. are represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 655, with a current contract due for renewal in November. Local 655 represents dozens of other local employers, including Dierbergs, Holten Meat, Kroger, Cedargate, Schnucks, Bon Appetit, Straubs and more.
The Coalition of #Kaiser Permanente Unions — which includes SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West, SEIU 121RN, OPEIU - Office and Professional Employees International Union Local 29, OPEIU Local 30, and International Federation of Professional & Technical Engineers (IFPTE) Local 20 — were forced to leave their final bargaining session without a national agreement. Their contract expired on September 30. Kaiser Permanente workers say deal unlikely to avert strike October 2, 2023 (Reuters) - The coalition of unions representing healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente said late on Saturday it is unlikely there will be a new agreement with the healthcare provider, as their current contract expires and the unions prepare for strike action. The Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions said it and the company remained far apart on important issues. Kaiser Permanente said that it is continuing to bargain with the union and work stoppages will not begin until October 4.
