Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Co. has been awarded a $7.8 million contract from the Defense Logistics Agency for temperate weather combat boots, according to an announcement from U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski (D-Ill.). The workers at Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Co. are represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 655, with a current contract due for renewal in November. Local 655 represents dozens of other local employers, including Dierbergs, Holten Meat, Kroger, Cedargate, Schnucks, Bon Appetit, Straubs and more.

Kaiser Permanente workers say deal unlikely to avert strike October 2, 2023 (Reuters) - The coalition of unions representing healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente said late on Saturday it is unlikely there will be a new agreement with the healthcare provider, as their current contract expires and the unions prepare for strike action.
